Frequently Asked Questions

What do we talk about during our phone consultation?

During your initial call we will talk about:

  • Reasons you are seeking therapy at this time,

  • If you have had therapy in the past/How you felt about past therapy,

  • What your goals are for therapy, and

  • Answer questions regarding fees and scheduling.

Are sessions in person or via telehealth?

I currently provide both in-person sessions and virtual sessions. All virtual sessions are conducted via a HIPAA compliant telehealth platform.

Please note you must currently reside in California to qualify for therapeutic services. I cannot accommodate other locations or states outside CA at this time.

How long is an appointment?

Sessions are 50 minutes long. Longer sessions are offered at a separate rate.

How long will I need therapy?

The amount of therapy sessions is largely dependent on the individual as everyone has different goals and unique challenges.

What types of Modalities do you work under?

I work in an integrative lens incorporating Affirmative therapeutic techniques, Feminist principles, Psychodynamic/Kohutian frameworks, and Solution Focused CBT techniques — all informed by a culturally competent social justice lens.

What is your cancellation policy?

Sessions begin and end at their scheduled times. A 48-hour cancellation notice is required to avoid fees. Less than 48-hours notice will result in a full fee charge, as will a “no show.” I try to make accommodations for rescheduling, though I cannot guarantee availability for the same week. If there is an emergency situation, exceptions would be made on a case-by-case basis.

How much does therapy cost?

How much does therapy cost?
My standard fee for individuals is $215 for a 50-minute session. For relationship partners and families, please inquire about fees directly. However, I also offer sliding scale rates based on financial need. I accept credit card for payment. If I am not a fit for you financially, or for any reason, I would be happy to provide you with high quality referrals from a network of experienced colleagues. ***

Do you accept insurance?

I am an out of network provider which means I do not bill your insurance company directly but will provide a receipt - called a superbill - for the sessions you paid for. You may submit this superbill to your insurance provider for any out of network benefits you may have and they will issue a reimbursement check. I recommend contacting your insurance company before beginning therapy to find out what your out of network benefits are.

*** You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
